Electroshop SNMP
Electroshop SNMP integrates SNMP-capable equipment and infrastructure directly into the Ignition OPC UA address space. The module brings network devices and OT assets into the same environment used for tags, alarms, history, dashboards and automation logic.
SNMP monitoring integrated with Ignition
Each configured connection opens a managed SNMP session in the Gateway, polls selected or discovered objects, and publishes their values with native data types, timestamps and OPC quality. Switches, routers, servers, UPS systems, PDUs, printers, environmental equipment and other SNMP devices can therefore be incorporated into Ignition projects without relying on a separate monitoring platform.
The module supports SNMP v1, v2c and v3. For new installations, SNMPv3 with authentication and privacy is recommended whenever the device supports it. Communities and credentials can use Ignition secret management instead of being stored in scripts or tags.
Main capabilities
- Polling of known OIDs and bounded discovery using GETNEXT or GETBULK.
- Profiles for generic devices, network switches, Linux servers, UPS/PDU equipment, printers and storage appliances.
- Values and runtime diagnostics published through the Ignition OPC UA server.
- Trap, notification and inform reception with filtering, bounded history and severity rules.
- Gateway scripting API for reads, walks, asynchronous operations and trap history.
- Protected SNMP SET operations requiring explicit enablement and an OID allowlist.

MIB Manager and symbolic names
Electroshop SNMP includes a local pack of standard IETF/IANA definitions. MIB Manager displays active definitions, available objects and runtime diagnostics. It also accepts vendor MIB files, validates their dependencies and makes readable symbolic names available for point configuration and Gateway scripts.
Standard definitions remain available without Internet access. When no active MIB definition matches an object, the module retains a stable numeric path so data acquisition can continue.
Security-first design
The default behavior is read-only. Polling, discovery, GET/WALK operations and trap reception do not write to managed devices. SNMP SET remains disabled until an administrator explicitly enables it and defines the permitted OIDs.
Production deployments should restrict each SNMP agent to the Gateway address, apply firewall rules for the required UDP ports and use least-privilege identities. Bounded discovery, asynchronous operation, trap history and MIB upload controls help protect both the Gateway and monitored equipment.
Compatibility and trial
This release requires Ignition 8.3.3 or newer within the Ignition 8.3 line and the Ignition OPC UA module. Maker Edition is supported. The module can be installed and evaluated during the Ignition trial period; when the trial ends, communications stop until a commercial license is activated.
Commercial license: USD 1,700 per Gateway as a one-time payment. The license includes updates and support for 90 days. Discounts are available for Ignition integrators; contact hola@electroshop.pe for details.
